Why Should You Advertise Online?
If the point of advertising is to gain brand recognition, educate the public on your products or mission, and drive sales, then the logical thing would be to place advertisements where your potential customers will see them. Because of the evolution of technology, it’s been years since the sides of barns have been effective, and print newspapers will soon follow suit. Radio and television are still powerhouses, but with satellite and subscription services that eliminate ads for listeners and streaming services taking up more of the market on a daily basis, TV viewers can avoid most, if not all, ads. So what is a business owner to do?
If you’ve been hesitant to try social media advertising, try thinking of how many people use Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, SnapChat, Pinterest, and more social networks. How often do you see people with their eyes glued to a digital screen? Go to where your audience is in order for your ads to get the exposure they deserve. There have been many changes in advertising in the last century, there is no arguing that. One of my favorite advertising quotes comes from over 50 years ago, long before social media, or even the internet was on anyone’s radar… and even though it’s antiquated in the sense of when it was said, it still carries a lot of weight today when you’re thinking of advertising and NOT using social media.
