Video Marketing: The Future of Spreading the Word

Six years ago, the company I was working for decided we needed to get on board with video marketing, and I was tasked with producing video content on a monthly basis with NO budget and whatever resources we had around the office. Along with a couple of coworkers, we set out to put together these videos with the goal of driving traffic to our brand new blog. We had a Nikon DSLR that could record 720p video in 9-minute pieces, no microphones, no additional lenses, and no lighting. While we managed to produce entertaining and educational videos, the quality left so much to be desired. We had no option but to fix audio and lighting problems in post production, and we were all learning on the fly. But it worked! Our not-so-great quality videos brought in the traffic we needed, and our online sales started to grow, and soon we had a budget! I can only image if we were doing this now, with the improvements in technology, how much better we could have done at achieving our goals.
As technology gets more affordable, it gets easier and easier to produce videos that look and sound great with minimal equipment, and it’s an affordable way to stretch your marketing dollars as far as possible.
