Stock: Facebook or Snapchat
Tech stocks are intriguing to investors because of the volatility of the companies involved. Personally, I am no expert when it comes to Wall Street and my education doesn’t go much further beyond checking a few boxes on the company provided 401k form. However, I do pay close attention to the publicly traded Social Media companies. I believe that evaluating their stock trends over given periods of time can tell us more than their company’s true financial value. It could be said that the value of Facebook or Snapchat is directly connected to their user “active daily” population. In this case, there is much to learn about the what users really think of a platform by paying attention to its stock market value.
In this article, you will find that the rapid growth of Instagram stories is beginning to cut into the user active daily population of Snapchat. If we assume this is directly connected to the stock value then we have to assume Snapchat stock price may begin and continue to decline. It is interesting that Snapchat has not yet released its numbers for Q1.
If this theory holds true – do as this article says: “Own Facebook & Not Snapchat”
