I don’t have time to mess with that…

There may be 24 hours in a day, but sometimes it does not feel like it. As Ben Franklin once said, “Lost Time is never found again.” That is especially true in the world of business. There are so many people and jobs pulling a person in every direction, that it becomes hard to focus on what is really important.

Businesses, especially those in retail, often focus only on customers that are at at their doors. While on the surface this seems like a good idea, it can have long term effects on the business, some of them negative. Now, before you call me crazy, let me explain.  Existing customers are the lifeblood of a business, and the revenue from them is what keeps the lights on. But, it is also very important to keep focused on gathering new customers into the fold. New customers not only grow your business, but help smooth out rough patches. New customers help your business expand and keep your customer base fresh.

Customers come and go for many reasons. Many of these reasons are out of your control, such as retirement or budget reallocation. Constantly acquiring new customers will provide insurance for externalities that cause existing customers to no longer need your services.

Finding new customers not only sounds like a daunting task, it is a daunting task. However, in today’s digital world, it seems that potential customers are easier to reach than ever before.

Social media takes customers and puts them right in your lap, so to speak. Targeting makes it possible to sift out people not likely to purchase your product/service, and focus on people who are good prospects.

Having a good social media presence and leveraging social media, is a must. If a business is going to be successful in the digital age, it is vitally important to go where the customers are. According to the recent social media statistics published by Hootsuite, 3.48 billion people are on social media. That is up 9% from the year previous.  40% of digital consumers use social networks to research new brands or products. Those stats ought to get you thinking about where your marketing budget is allocated.

Now to get back to the “I don’t have time for this” crowd. Social media is one of the things that you cannot afford to not have time for. Don’t let time be your excuse for not utilizing social ads and content. Delegate! With delegation it is possible to maintain a high quality presence on social media and still have time in the day for other things. And remember to delegate to the professionals! Venture Creations is here to help!!
