Augmented Reality taking Root – Amazon, IKEA

by | Nov 3, 2017

Augmented Reality (AR) is becoming a part of our lives rapidly. The full extent of how our generation & society will use AR is not yet known and is continuing to develop via technology. A couple of large companies are adopting Augmented Reality into their sales process and are paving the way for allowing customers to visualize a product in their space prior to purchasing it. Amazon and IKEA have taken AR by the horns.

Imagine being able to see exactly how that new desk or sofa will look in YOUR home with YOUR decorations & colors! View your intended purchase through a smartphone lens and you will now know how the furniture will look on Instagram & Facebook (and in your home :D). To me this sounds like fewer returns from product that didn’t match, fit, or look as desired in your home or office.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Think about clothing, decor, offices/businesses, city planning, anything really. It is the ultimate “try if before you buy it”! Thanks to AR.
